12. Toen stuurde Abner boden naar David om namens hem te spreken over de vraag, aan wie het land zou toebehoren. Zijn boodschap luidde: ‘Neem mij als uw bondgenoot; dan zal ik mijn macht in uw dienst stellen om heel Israel op uw hand te brengen.’
