2. Ook versloeg hij de Moabieten. Hij beval hun, plat op de grond te gaan liggen en ging er toen langs met een meetsnoer, dat hij uitlegde, twee lengten voor wie moesten sterven, een lengte voor wie in leven mocht blijven. Zo onderwierp David de Moabieten en maakte hen schatplichtig.
