17. Toen Farao het volk had laten vertrekken liet God hen niet door het gebied van de Filistijnen gaan, hoewel deze weg korter is. Want als het volk aangevallen zou worden, dacht God, zou het spijt kunnen krijgen en terugkeren naar Egypte.
