3. En bij hun terugkeer berichtten zij aan Jozua: ‘U hoeft niet met het hele leger uit te trekken; twee - of drieduizend man is genoeg om Ai te veroveren. Het is niet nodig daar het hele volk voor te vermoeien: zo talrijk zijn ze niet.’
