12. Toen stuurde Abner boden naar David om namens hem te spreken over de vraag aan wie het land zou toebehoren. Zijn boodschap luidde: `Neem mij als uw bondgenoot, dan zal ik mijn macht in uw dienst stellen, om heel Israël op uw hand te brengen.'
