9. Judit hoorde van de heilloze eisen die het volk aan de magistraten van de stad gesteld had, omdat het door het watergebrek alle moed had verloren. Ook hoorde ze dat Uzzia hun onder ede beloofd had de stad na vijf dagen uit te leveren aan de Assyriërs.
