40. Således tok Josva hele landet, både fjellbygdene og sydlandet og lavlandet og liene, og slo alle kongene der; han lot ikke nogen bli i live eller slippe unda, og alt som drog ånde, slo han med bann, således som Herren, Israels Gud, hadde befalt.
