17. De vilde ikke høre og kom ikke i hu de undergjerninger du hadde gjort for dem, men var hårdnakkede og valgte sig en høvding og vilde i sin gjenstridighet vende tilbake til sin trældom; men du er en Gud som tilgir, nådig og barmhjertig, langmodig og rik på miskunnhet, og du forlot dem ikke.
