17. E David clamou a Deus: "Ó Senhor fui eu que mandei fazer o recenseamento do povo. Fui eu que pequei e que cometi essa falta. Essa pobre gente não fez mal nenhum. Ó Senhor, meu Deus, castiga-me, portanto, a mim e à minha família, mas não castigues o meu povo com esta calamidade!"
