45. Mas o povo disse a Saul: "Como é que Jónatas pode ser morto se foi ele que deu a Israel esta grande vitória? Não pode ser! Juramos por Deus que nem um só cabelo há-de cair da sua cabeça, porque foi com a ajuda de Deus que ele, hoje, realizou semelhante proeza." Desta maneira, o povo livrou Jónatas da morte.
