44. Mas os israelitas retorquiram imediatamente: "Nós temos dez vezes mais direitos sobre o rei que vocês; até mesmo sobre David temos mais direito que vocês! Por que é que nos tratais com um tal desprezo? E não fomos nós os primeiros a propor que se pedisse ao nosso rei que regressasse?" Mas os judeus responderam aos israelitas ainda com mais dureza
