Gad foi ter com ele e comunicou-lhe a mensagem de Deus e perguntou-lhe: "O que é que preferes: sete anos de fome para todo o teu povo, ou três meses a fugir diante dos teus inimigos, que te vão perseguir, ou três dias de peste em todo o país? Pensa bem e diz-me o que escolhes, para eu responder a quem me enviou."
