Também derrotou os moabitas, obrigando-os a deitarem-se por terra para os medir com um cordel Os que ficavam dentro das duas primeiras medidas de cordel, eram condenados à morte, e os que ficavam dentro da terceira eram deixados com vida! Desta maneira, os moabitas foram submetidos a David e tiveram que lhe pagar tributo.
