9. Foram estas as cidades-refúgio escolhidas para os israelitas e estrangeiros que vivessem no meio deles. Lá se poderia refugiar todo aquele que matasse alguém involuntariamente. Assim, não seria morto por aqueles a quem competisse exercer vingança, antes de comparecer diante do povo em assembleia.
