Împăratul a poruncit marelui preot Hilchia, preoţilor de al doilea rând, şi celor ce păzeau pragul, să scoată din Templul Domnului toate sculele care fuseseră făcute pentru Baal, pentru Astartea, şi pentru toată oştirea cerurilor; şi le-a ars afară din Ierusalim, în ogoarele Chedronului, şi a pus să le ducă cenuşa la Betel.
