21. În acelaşi timp, pe când Mardoheu stătea la poarta împăratului, Bigtan şi Tereş, doi fameni ai împăratului, păzitorii pragului, s-au lăsat biruiţi de o supărare şi au vrut să întindă mâna împotriva împăratului Ahaşveroş.
