17. Saul a zis lui David: „Iată, îţi voi da de nevastă pe fiică-mea cea mai mare Merab: numai să-mi slujeşti cu vitejie, şi să porţi războaiele Domnului”. Dar Saul îşi zicea: „Nu vreau să-mi pun mîna... mea pe el, ci mîna Filistenilor să fie asupra lui”.
