17. Ieremia a zis atunci lui Zedechia: „Aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeul oştirilor, Dumnezeul lui Israel: ,Dacă te vei supune căpeteniilor împăratului Babilonului, vei scăpa cu viaţă, şi nici cetatea aceasta nu va fi arsă cu foc, iar tu vei trăi împreună cu casa ta.
