8. När konungen därefter kom tillbaka till gästabudssalen från palatsets trädgård, hade Haman sjunkit ned mot den soffa, där Ester satt; då sade konungen: "Vill han ock öva våld mot drottningen, härinne i min närvaro?" Knappt hade detta ord gått över konungens läppar, förrän man höljde över Hamans ansikte.
