1. Beseda, ki jo je govoril Jeremija prorok Baruhu, sinu Nerijevemu, ko je pisal v knjigo te besede iz ust Jeremijevih, v četrtem letu Jojakima, sinu Josijevega, kralja Judovega, rekoč:
  
2. Tako pravi GOSPOD, Bog Izraelov, zastran tebe, Baruh:
  
3. Ti govoriš: Gorje meni! ker GOSPOD je pridel togo žalosti moji; utrujen sem v zdihovanju svojem in ne najdem pokoja.
  
4. Tako mu boš govoril: Glej, kar sem sezidal, podiram, in kar sem vsadil, rujem, in to po vsej deželi.
  
5. In ti bi iskal sebi velikih reči? Ne išči jih! zakaj, glej, jaz pripeljem nesrečo nad vse meso, govori GOSPOD; tebi pa dam dušo tvojo za plen v vseh krajih, kamorkoli pojdeš.
