2. แล้วกษัตริย์ดาวิดทรงลุกขึ้นประทับยืน และตรัสว่า "พี่น้องของข้าพเจ้า และประชาชนของข้าพเจ้า ขอจงฟังข้าพเจ้า ข้าพเจ้ามีใจประสงค์ที่จะสร้างพระนิเวศอันเป็นที่พักของหีบพันธสัญญาของพระเยโฮวาห์ และเพื่อเป็นที่รองพระบาทของพระเจ้าของเรา และข้าพเจ้าได้จัดเตรียมการก่อสร้างไว้เสร็จแล้ว
