39. เมื่อดาวิดได้ยินว่านาบาลสิ้นชีวิตแล้ว ท่านจึงว่า "สาธุการแด่พระเยโฮวาห์ ผู้ทรงแก้แค้นการเหยียดหยามที่ข้าพระองค์ได้รับจากมือของนาบาล และทรงป้องกันผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์ไม่ให้ทำความชั่ว พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงตอบแทนการกระทำชั่วของนาบาลให้ตกบนศีรษะของเขาเอง" แล้วดาวิดก็ส่งคนไปสู่ขออาบีกายิลให้มาเป็นภรรยาของท่าน
