18. อยู่มาพอวันที่เจ็ดพระกุมารนั้นก็สิ้นพระชนม์ ส่วนข้าราชการของดาวิดก็กลัวไม่กล้ากราบทูลดาวิดว่าพระกุมารนั้นสิ้นชีวิตแล้ว เขาพูดกันว่า "ดูเถิด เมื่อพระกุมารนั้นทรงพระชนม์อยู่ เราทูลพระองค์ พระองค์หาทรงฟังเสียงของเราไม่ แล้วเราทั้งหลายอาจจะกราบทูลได้อย่างไรว่า พระกุมารนั้นสิ้นพระชนม์แล้ว พระองค์ก็จะกระทำอันตรายต่อพระองค์เอง"
