12. อับเนอร์ก็ส่งผู้สื่อสารแทนตนไปยังดาวิดทูลว่า "แผ่นดินนี้เป็นของผู้ใด" และทูลอีกว่า "ขอทรงทำพันธสัญญากับข้าพระองค์ และดูเถิด มือของข้าพระองค์จะอยู่ฝ่ายพระองค์ และนำอิสราเอลทั้งสิ้นมามอบแด่พระองค์"
