23. เพราะพระเยโฮวาห์จะเสด็จผ่านไปเพื่อจะได้ประหารคนอียิปต์ เมื่อพระองค์ทรงเห็นเลือดที่ไม้ประตูข้างบนและที่ไม้วงกบประตูทั้งสองข้าง พระเยโฮวาห์จะทรงผ่านเว้นประตูนั้น ไม่ทรงยอมให้ผู้สังหารเข้าไปในบ้านท่าน เพื่อจะประหารท่าน
