17. ต่อมาเมื่อฟาโรห์ปล่อยพลไพร่ไปแล้ว พระเจ้ามิได้ทรงนำเขาไปทางแผ่นดินของชาวฟีลิสเตีย แม้ว่าจะเป็นทางใกล้ เพราะพระเจ้าตรัสว่า "เกรงว่าเมื่อพลไพร่ไปเผชิญสงครามเข้า เขาจะเปลี่ยนใจและกลับไปยังอียิปต์เสีย"
