5. เพราะพระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสกับโมเสสว่า "จงกล่าวแก่ชนชาติอิสราเอลว่า `เจ้าทั้งหลายเป็นชนชาติคอแข็ง ถ้าเราจะขึ้นไปกับเจ้าเพียงครู่เดียว เราก็จะทำลายล้างเจ้าเสีย เหตุฉะนี้ จงถอดเครื่องประดับออกเสียเพื่อเราจะรู้ว่า ควรจะกระทำอย่างไรกับเจ้า'"
