6. แล้วเอสราก็ถอยไปจากต่อหน้าพระนิเวศของพระเจ้า เข้าไปในห้องของโยฮานันบุตรชายเอลียาชีบ เมื่อมาถึงที่นั่นแล้วก็ไม่รับประทานขนมปังหรือดื่มน้ำ เพราะท่านโศกเศร้าด้วยเรื่องการละเมิดของพวกที่ถูกกวาดไปเป็นเชลยนั้น
