9. อาบีเมเลคจึงเรียกอิสอัคมาเฝ้า และตรัสว่า "ดูเถิด นางเป็นภรรยาของเจ้าแน่แล้ว ทำไมเจ้าจึงพูดว่า `เธอเป็นน้องสาวของข้าพระองค์'" อิสอัคทูลพระองค์ว่า "เพราะข้าพระองค์คิดว่า `มิฉะนั้นข้าจะตายเพราะนาง'"
