17. ฝ่ายพระเจ้าเมื่อพระองค์ทรงหมายพระทัยจะสำแดงให้ผู้ที่รับคำทรงสัญญานั้นเป็นมรดกรู้ให้แน่ใจยิ่งขึ้นว่า พระดำริของพระองค์จะแปรปรวนไม่ได้ พระองค์จึงได้ทรงให้คำปฏิญาณไว้ด้วย
