8. แต่พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้ว่า "เหมือนอย่างมะเดื่อที่เลว ซึ่งเลวมากจนรับประทานไม่ได้นั้น เราจะกระทำต่อเศเดคียาห์กษัตริย์แห่งยูดาห์ ทั้งเจ้านายของเขา และชาวเยรูซาเล็มที่เหลืออยู่ ผู้ซึ่งยังค้างอยู่ในแผ่นดินนี้ และผู้ที่ยังอาศัยอยู่ในประเทศอียิปต์
