5. ขณะเมื่อท่านยังไม่กลับไป เขากล่าวว่า "ท่านจงกลับไปหาเกดาลิยาห์บุตรชายอาหิคัม ผู้เป็นบุตรชายชาฟาน ผู้ซึ่งกษัตริย์แห่งบาบิโลนได้แต่งตั้งให้เป็นผู้ว่าราชการบรรดาหัวเมืองยูดาห์ และอยู่กับเขาท่ามกลางประชาชน หรือจะไปที่ใดที่ท่านเห็นชอบจะไปก็ได้" ผู้บัญชาการทหารรักษาพระองค์จึงสั่งอนุมัติเสบียงและให้ของขวัญแก่เยเรมีย์ แล้วก็ปล่อยท่านไป
