3. แต่บิดาและมารดาของท่านกล่าวแก่ท่านว่า "จะหาเมียในบรรดาญาติพี่น้องของเจ้า หรือในท่ามกลางชนชาติของเราไม่ได้หรือ เจ้าจึงจะไปรับหญิงจากคนฟีลิสเตียที่ไม่เข้าสุหนัตมาเป็นเมียของเจ้า" แต่แซมสันกล่าวแก่บิดาว่า "ไปขอหญิงนั้นให้ฉันที เพราะเธอเป็นที่พอใจฉันมาก"
