12. 他們就來到王面前，提起王的禁令，說：“你豈不是簽署了禁令，無論何人，在三十天內，王啊！除了向你以外，若向任何神或任何人求甚麼，就必扔在獅子坑中？”王回答說：“確有此事。按照瑪代和波斯的律法，這樣的禁令是不能廢除的。”
